Saving & Investing - Heart Matters

3. Practicing Delayed Gratification

Delaying gratification takes self-discipline. They go hand and hand.

a. What does delayed gratification mean?

Delaying gratification means that you put off activities that give you pleasure or gratification because doing so is good for your wellbeing. For instance, waiting to purchase a car until you’ve saved enough money to do so instead of taking a loan for the car is an example of delaying gratification. Saving the money that you would have paid in interest will be good for your wellbeing. But, purchasing the car sooner would probably have been more pleasurable.
